As of July 8, 2026, IDES will no longer send benefit payments via paper check.  You may select direct deposit or debit card as your method for receiving benefit payments.  If you were receiving paper checks, you will be switched over to debit card payments unless you choose to enroll in direct deposit.

Filing unemployment claims will be unavailable Sunday, July 26th from 12:00 a.m. until noon for a scheduled system upgrade.  Access for claimants will resume Sunday afternoon.

Helping UI Claimants

Does your organization work with individuals that need help filing for Unemployment Insurance? If so, IDES offers several online tools and resources that ensure a smooth filing process.

Filing Assistance

Below is a list of questions that you should ask the claimant.

  • Is the claimant eligible to receive UI benefits?
  • Do they have all of the necessary information needed to file?
  • Do they have regular access to a telephone in case an interview is required?
  • Do they have a checking account so that if found eligible, benefits can be directly deposited?

Be sure to check out the office locator, so the claimant can find the nearest office to them. When assisting with online filing, make sure the computer you use meets the minimal technical requirements.
