Possible online services disruption due to Internet related outage

A worldwide technology outage is causing disruption to some State of Illinois online systems.  We are aware of this issue and are diligently working on restoration.

Due to a global service outage, you may be unable to access IDES services at this time, including access to your claimant account.

ILogin

ILogin is an identity verification tool that is required to apply online for unemployment insurance and access your IDES online account.  ILogin uses the latest cybersecurity tools to protect user data including identity proofing, strong authentication, fraud analytics and threat monitoring.  ILogin is used across the state by various agencies such as Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to secure your data.  Upon logging in, you may see these accounts appear on your dashboard.

ILogin adds a layer of security called Multifactor Authentication (MFA) that is required to access your account.  When you create or log into your IDES online account you will be required to verify your identity through an additional factor such as a text message, phone call, Google Authenticator, or OKTA verify.  This extra identity confirmation measure helps secure your account and protect your information.

  3. Enter the required information and then click NEXT.
  4. After creating your ILogin account, you will receive a confirmation email to the email address you provided in the account.
  5. Open the confirmation email and click the link titled Activate Account.  This link expires seven days after you receive the email.
  6. Once you click on the Activate Account button, you will be directed to a screen to set up a password for your ILogin account, as well as security questions and options for resetting your password in the future.
  7.  Next, you will be required to set up your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).  You must choose at least one option to set up, but you can also select all MFA options.
  8.  Once account registration is complete, you will be taken to your ILogin dashboard.  Click on the IDES icon.
  9. The message below will appear to validate your IDES UI Online Account.
  10. Existing Claimants: Click on “I Have an IDES UI Online Account”.  Existing claimants that are already registered and have a username/password and active claim will then be taken to the IDES account verification page.  New Claimants: Click on “I Do Not Have an IDES UI Online Account”.  New claimants will have to complete additional identity proofing and validation steps.
  11. Once ILogin registration and identity validation has been completed successfully, you can log into their UI Online Account.  After the completion of these steps, your UI Online Account will be successfully linked to your ILogin account.  MFA will be required every time you log in.

There are four different MFA options to choose from:

  1. OKTA Verify
To use this option, you must download the OKTA app on your phone.  When using this method, a “push” notification will display on your phone asking if you are attempting to sign in.
  2. Google Authenticator
To use this option, you must download the Google Authenticator app on your phone.  Once downloaded, set up, and logged in, you will have to go to the Google Authenticator app to retrieve the single-use code (time-sensitive and refreshes periodically) and enter via ILogin.
  3. SMS Authentication
To use this option, an SMS text message will be sent to the phone number you provided when attempting to login.  You must enter the single-use code that you receive via text.
  4. Voice Call Authentication
To use this option, you will receive a phone call to the phone number you provided to authenticate your identity and log into your account.
