Chicago-Naperville-Schaumburg Metropolitan Division

The Chicago-Naperville-Schaumburg, IL Metropolitan Division includes Cook, DuPage, Grundy, McHenry and Will Counties and replaces the six-county Chicago-Naperville-Arlington Heights Metropolitan Division.

The Chicago-Naperville-Elgin IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area includes the Chicago-Naperville-Schaumburg Metropolitan Division, the Elgin, IL Metropolitan Division, the Lake County, IL Metropolitan Division and the Gary, IN Metropolitan Division.

Not seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for the Elgin, IL Metropolitan Division, the Lake County, IL Metropolitan Division and the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin IL-IN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area will be available at the DES LAUS page the day of the IDES local area news release (usually one week after the release of Illinois and Chicago-Naperville-Schaumburg Metropolitan Division data).

Unemployment rates for the Gary, IN Metropolitan Division may be obtained from either the State of Indiana https://www.hoosierdata.in.gov or the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Web site https://www.bls.gov/lau.

The introduction of the Chicago-Naperville-Schaumburg Metropolitan Division was announced in July 2023 by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in OMB Bulletin No. 23-01.
